Dwelling on a classified lot

Geotechnical and Structural

Ground
Classified residential lot
Method
Shallow testing, then CPT to depth
Scope
Investigation and foundation design
Outcome
Consented as one package

A lot the council has already classified narrows what a foundation is allowed to be. That is useful information rather than bad news, as long as somebody goes and confirms which category the ground in front of you actually falls into.

Testing settled which category this site actually falls into, and the foundation was designed to suit that answer rather than the one mapped across the wider block. The structure above was then detailed for the movements the category anticipates.

The geotechnical report and the foundation design went to council together, with the producer statement issued by the engineer who did both. One package, one accountable name on it.
